Self-control means training your mind and body to obey your will. When we discipline our bodies our flesh we earn rewards of good health, good life, secure future, happiness and less stress. When we just do as we feel we lose blessings and rewards.
We can block our blessings by not being disciplined; speeding instead of obeying the speed limit, eating that ice cream when you know you shouldn’t. We want to play a good game, strong defense, the enemy is the offense, always trying to steal the ball from our hands the ball is the blessings that God has for us… good life, financial provision, love, health and happy family life.
But without discipline that cannot take place. We need self-discipline to focus. We spoke about focusing on our goals so they can manifest instead of being distracted and entertained by the enemy. The enemy wants you to look at him and be distracted by fear, doubt, disbelief, anger, lust, jealousy, but God wants you to focus on HIM, His team and His promises which include healing, love, forgiveness, commitment, belief, faith and hope.
We can get distracted by the darkness and panic. Or we can drop on our knees, as in a mock and feel our way, believe, keep going towards the victory. Times are crucial, there is a war out there, it’s time to commit to serve the Lord. If you serve two masters you will be destroyed, you won’t make it to victory land.
It easy to give up and just concede, go along with the masses. Victory requires determination and commitment and faith. In order to win you have to go into the ring, you have to fight. You can’t just look on from the bleachers. Some time or another you will be required to step up and show the enemy who’s boss. Maybe many losses make you feel down, but you have to come believe that God is able to do all things, that He is with you, guiding you, helping you and that you will win. Once you believe that you’re a winner, by reconditioning your mind, restoring, renewing your mind, by drinking enough water, with good word, good messages, reading, studying the bible and other good books you will be fed the wisdom, the knowledge on how to fight. You can’t go into the biggest battle unprepared. You need training. Corporate training, in the body of the Lord. In His holy house, go to temple or church or mosque. He will instruct you. “John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”
24:30-34 I passed by the field of the
sluggard And by the vineyard of the man lacking sense, And behold, it was
completely overgrown with thistles; Its surface was covered with nettles, And
its stone wall was broken down. When I saw, I reflected upon it; I looked, and
“A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest,” Then your poverty will come as a robber And your want like an armed man.”
So keep on going. Keep on moving, studying, reaching, training, practicing, learning, one day you will see the victory if you don’t give up in disbelief. Before the light there will be some darkness.. go through it… don’t stop in fear of the darkness or turn back. Darkness is confusing, you will need faith to keep going just like Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego, the three Hebrew young men who were put in the fiery furnace. They emerged victorious. You can too, use your faith and keep believing in God’s power.
